Looking at manufacturing, output slid 1.0% from June 2025 and also declined 0.4% from May. Mining and quarrying experienced a more pronounced drop, decreasing 13.8% year on year. That segment’s output also fell 3.3% compared to May. Industry holds a 20.2% share of Sweden’s overall private-sector production index, with manufacturing making up the majority, accounting for 19.4 percentage points of the total.

Despite the decline in June, industrial production averaged higher during the second quarter. From April through June, output grew by 4.0% compared to the same period in 2025. When seasonally adjusted, production increased by 4.8% from the previous three months. Moreover, Sweden’s overall private-sector production expanded in June, rising 0.4% from May and 1.8% on an annual basis.

Private-sector activity shows annual growth despite monthly dip

In June, services production declined slightly by 0.2% from May but remained 3.0% higher than the same month in 2025. Construction activity experienced a 2.0% increase month-on-month and was up 7.6% year-over-year. The services index stood at 111.9, compared to 112.1 in May, while the construction index rose from 93.0 to 94.9. Services constitute 67.2% of the broader production measure, with construction representing 8.4%.

Meanwhile, data from Statistics Sweden indicated a remarkable surge in new industrial orders for June. Overall orders increased by 32.3% from May after seasonal adjustment and were 29.9% higher than in June 2025 on a calendar-adjusted basis. Export orders saw the largest jump, rising 56.5% from May and 57.6% compared to last year. Domestic orders remained nearly unchanged month-on-month but decreased by 7.4% on an annual basis.

Transport equipment leads the rise in export orders

Initial monthly figures may be revised as additional data becomes available.
